Recommended Pre Read: Our Worldviews
Worldview: Materialism
God Is:
There is no such thing as a god or any supernatural being.
Everything in the universe is composed of physical material.
Things that are not made of material like our thoughts or consciousness, are the result of material that interacts with physical phenomena.
Ethics:
People who believe in a materialistic worldview, look at the animal kingdom where they see the law of the jungle as the basic rule for their ethical behavior.
These ethics are also commonly referred to as:
- Survival of the fittest
- The winner takes all
- Greed is good
This includes the vision that people who are “strong”, have a universal right to rule and control over other people who are considered to be weak.
As far as the law is concerned:
As long as not (yet) explicitly prohibited by law, everything is allowed!
Also our whole planet can be seen as one big battlefield where we can play wargames.
Discussion Techniques:
Discussions are always seen as a battle that must be won.
Therefor the debate is considered to be the most important (if not: only) discussion technique, since the debate is actually a verbal boxing match that can be won or lost.
A debate always has a winner and a loser.
Organic Interactions:
There are no interactions between human individuals or between any living organisms.
Therefore paranormal phenomena like mind reading do not actually exist, but just (magic) tricks like cold-reading .
Accomplishments
Thanks to Materialism, humanity has been suffering for at least the last 3000 years from accomplishments like:
- Famine, Poverty, Inequality/discrimination
- Corruption, Organized Crime, Drug abuse
- Eugenics (Holocaust, genetic engineering, genocide, transhumanism)
- Ecocide (The depredation of our planet)
Likelihood:
It is also heavily debated by the Intelligent Design discussion and the post-Newtonian paradigm.
It is therefor far more likely that materialism and it’s science, is merely limited to the physical components of the entire universe.
If we give it a rating on how likely it is that the universe is functioning according to the materialistic worldview, it would be around 20-30%
