Utolantis Communties
As mentioned before, the Utolantis concept is based upon the Holistic worldview where humans live in harmony with Mother Nature and where planet Earth is our home.
As a result there are are also no more countries or states.
Instead, we have thousands (perhaps even millions) of individual communities where people reside for either a short period or a longer period of time.
One of the best ways to get a feeling of how such a community would look like is to compare it with a modern (European) camping site.
It is a large area with multiple accommodations ranging from pretty basic to very luxurious.
Basic facilities:
All Communities require at least a given set of basic facilities to be recognized as an official Utolantis Community.
These facilities include all that is needed to provide all that is required to realize the levels 1 and 2 on the Maslow pyramid ( Physiological needs and Safety)
These include (a.o.):
- Food and water supply
- Energy resources
- Community Center (with basic services)
- Accomodation
More advanced communities will have one or more optional facilities like:
Advanced Facilities:
- Industrial facilities
- Community Center (with more advanced services)
- Science and/or Technology Center
Food and Water Supply:
As also mentioned in our section on Eco Control, each individual community must be both completely self-sustaining and may not damage the (local) ecosystems.
This means that it should be able to provide enough food and water for all it’s residents throughout the entire year.
For more info, check out the dedicated page on Food And Water Supply
Energy:
Next to food and water supply, the community must also make sure it can generate enough energy to cover all demand for the entire community.
If more power can be generated than actually needed, the community can start thinking about additional/advanced Facilities like manufacturing plants. At least, as long as it can also still provide enough food for the additional residents.
For more info, check out the dedicated page on Energy Supply
Community Center:
Typically in the center of the community, you will find the Community Center where each resident can find a number of services and/or facilities like (a.o.):
- Maintenance and Repair Team
- Infrastructure and Transportation Center
- Library
- Education Center
- Job Center
- Sports and Recreation
Accommodation:
As mentioned in The High-Tech Nomad, residents will reside in a given community for a given period of time.
Some will just be passing bye and stay just 1 night, where others may stay for longer periods ranging from a few days to the rest of their life.
To support this concept, some accommodations will be quite basic, where others may be pretty luxurious.
Industrial Facilities:
When a community can generate (far) more energy than it needs for it’s basic facilities, the community can think about industry.
